In the science department, GCCS offers many opportunities for students to participate in labs throughout their high school careers in different classes. Science classes offered at GCCS include biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, and physiology. Last Friday, the anatomy and physiology classes dissected a sheep brain. The goal of this lab was to observe and study the different sections of the brain. Students were split into groups of three and four as they observed the brain. Some of these sections are the cerebellum and the different nerves associated with the brain. Many students enjoyed the lab and getting hands-on experience. Students feel more prepared for entering a post-high school lab experience after completing labs with Mr. Sergio, the high school anatomy teacher.
