Swimming Season 2020-21

Roxy Rooker, Editor

This year’s swim season had a rough start. Up until the first day of practice we did not know if we would have a season. Originally there were 2 meets scheduled for the 2020-21 school year. But now at the end of the season, we have had almost 10 meets! Even though this has been less of a season than it regularly would have been, there was still a lot of personal improvement on the team.  This year we have two swimmers on the GCCS swim team: Roxy Rooker and Megan Valiquette.

Megan broke her times in the 50 yard freestyle, the 100 yard freestyle. She started the season at 37.99 seconds and finished at 34.42 seconds in the 50 free. She started at 1:30.09 and finished at 1:19.48 in the 100 free! She broke her time in the 500 freestyle as well.

Roxy scored many personal bests (PBs) this year. She dropped 1.68 seconds in the 100 butterfly leaving her final time at 1:20.69. Roxy’s time at the beginning of the season for the 100 breaststroke was 1:34.03. She finished the season at 1:29.29! She dropped 5.19 seconds in the 200 Individual Medley. She dropped her time in the 100 freestyle from 1:09 to 1:06. She also dropped in her 50 free by a few hundredths of a second.

Overall, many PBs were made between Megan and Roxy this season. With the little time to practice and last minute meets, the swim season for Grove City Christian was a success. Hopefully next year, the team can gain some new members and maybe even get a relay.
