The Columbus Blue Jackets winning streak ends

Riley Peters, Story/Sports Writer

The Columbus Blue Jackets were on fire. Some may venture to say they could not lose. They were one game away from breaking the record for games won in a row. The Jackets had won sixteen games in a row. The Jackets right wing, Cam Atkinson has lead the team in goals with eighteen this year. Also Alex Wennberg is leading the team is assists with 26. Although they are having a great season, last night’s game against the Washington Capitols took a turn for the worst. The Capitols came out of the locker room hot, scoring two goals in the first period. They didn’t stop there. They followed up with two more in the second period and one more in the final period to seal the deal.

The Jackets looked for opportunities to score all night but shots just would not go in. After a sixteen game winning streak the Capitols finally handed the Jackets their first loss since November. Although the jackets streak has ended they are still having one of the best seasons they have had in years and are still looking to make a long playoff run later in the season. Lets see just how far they can make it and if last nights loss was just a flicker in the hot flame.
